415 km paragliding in Brazil: October’s record flight on the Stodeus LogBook

Every month, the Stodeus LogBook highlights the longest flight in its community. In October, it comes to us from north-eastern Brazil: 415 km of free distance for Janne Järnesjö on 6 October, recorded with his UltraBip !

He took off by winch from Caraúbas, headed west and landed at Croatá, in Ceará, in the late afternoon. Janne thus came close to his own Swedish record, set last year. And at the end of October, it was the longest flight of the year on the Stodeus LogBook.

🎙️ Janne’s story:

“The day was fantastic, with beautiful clouds stretching out from the tow launch site. I found thermals I could use, more or less right from the start.

At one point, I was so low (80 m above the ground) that I began getting out of my harness in preparation for landing – just as I got an indication that there might be something there.

I maintained a good pace. The only slight drawback was that I couldn’t take advantage of the entire day.”

And what about the instrument? Janne sums it up in two sentences:

“Last year, I used the UltraBip as a backup variometer. This year, it was my only variometer, connected to XCTrack on my phone.”

On a day like this, the battery shouldn’t be an issue: the UltraBip recharges in the sun all the time, and every flight goes straight to the Stodeus LogBook after landing.
