Stodeus applications and software
Last updated: 15 October 2026
This section applies to every software application published by Stodeus: watch applications, phone and computer applications, and the firmware of our instruments ("the applications"). Controller: Stodeus SAS, 176 rue de la Cuche, 38113 Veurey-Voroize, France. Contact: contact form (subject "Privacy / personal data").
In short: the data our applications handle stays on your devices, unless you choose to create an online account or to send us something. Stodeus does not sell it and does not share it for advertising.
Data the applications use, and why
- Data from your Stodeus instrument. The applications receive the readings your instrument transmits over Bluetooth or USB (for example vertical speed, altitude, speed, position, battery level, flight logs) to display, record or transfer them on your own devices. This data is processed on your devices and is not sent to Stodeus, unless you sync it with an online account (see below).
- Location. Some applications use your device's location (for example to compute ground speed when your instrument has no GPS), only after you have granted your device's location permission and only while you use the feature that needs it. Positions are processed on your device and are only sent with the flights you choose to sync.
- Device features. Applications may use Bluetooth, sensors or system features of your device (for example a workout session on a watch to keep the display active), only for the feature you are using. They do not read or save health data unless the application explicitly says so and you allow it.
- Settings. Your preferences (for example the paired instrument, display units) are kept on your device. Uninstalling the application deletes them.
- Optional online account. Some applications let you create an account to save and share your flights online. Only if you create one, Stodeus stores your e-mail address, the profile information you enter (for example name, short bio, photo) and the flights you sync, either one by one or automatically, depending on the setting you choose in the application. This data is kept until you delete it or close your account. Without an account, nothing is sent.
- Maps and place names. Some applications display maps or the name of the place of a flight. To do so, they request map images or place names from online map services (for example OpenStreetMap), which receive the area concerned and your device's IP address, as for any website. No account or identifier of yours is sent to them.
What the applications do not do
- No advertising, no sale of data, no tracking across apps or websites.
- No analytics and no crash reporting sent to Stodeus or third parties, unless an application clearly tells you otherwise and asks for your agreement.
- No data is sent to Stodeus unless you choose to send it (for example by syncing your flights with an online account, or by sending a file to our support).
Data you send us
If you contact support or send us a file (for example a flight log), we use it only to answer you and keep it no longer than needed for that purpose.
Your rights
Without an online account, Stodeus holds no personal data from the applications, so there is generally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have an account, or sent us data yourself, you can access, correct, export or delete it, and close your account, through our contact form. You can change an application's permissions (Bluetooth, location, etc.) at any time in your device's settings.
Children
The applications are intended for pilots and do not knowingly collect data from anyone, regardless of age.
Not a certified flight instrument
Applications that display flight data are aids only. They are not certified flight instruments and do not replace your instrument's own display and audio. The pilot remains solely responsible for the conduct of the flight.
Changes
Any change to this section will be published on this page with its date. The current version applies to every version of the applications.
