Trace du vol record de 368 km en parapente par François Montuori avec l'UltraBip sur le LogBook Stodeus

368 km paragliding: July’s record flight on the Stodeus LogBook!

Every month, the Stodeus LogBook highlights the community’s finest flights. In July, it’s François Montuori, who has covered the longest distance with a magnificent 368.49 km route completed on 3 July !

🎙️ François Montuori’s testimonial:

«Ever since I discovered flatland flying in France, I’ve tried to go at least once or twice a year whenever I see that the day has potential. I really enjoy this style of flying; it’s less demanding than flying in the Alps – you read the clouds, you play with the wind… it’s very different from Alpine cross-country flying and it suits me well.»

Accompanied by Justin Puthod and Andy Tallia, and joined by Alex Gignoux, François takes off from Houéville. The group heads for Bourgogne, where the cloud base is rising and the thermals are strengthening.

On the way to Dijon, the trio of François, Justin and Andy get together to optimise their route:

«It’s loads more fun with a group – we can re-centre the thermals, play along the air currents and fly more efficiently. Equipped with aviation radios, we contact the St-Yan control tower, which clears us for passage, then head off towards St-Etienne, where the Lyon TMA forces us to descend well below the ceiling.»

As the day drew to a close, the air became drier, the thermals grew scarce and the wind picked up considerably at ground level. After the group had split up, François embarked on a real «survival» struggle on the outskirts of the Saint-Étienne CTR, completing his flight in strong winds after nearly 9 h 30 min in the harness.

🚀 Why are the UltraBip and the Stodeus LogBook the perfect companions for exceptional flights?

Flights over flatlands lasting more than 9 hours require reliable equipment, a full range of flight time and precision.

  1. Unlimited solar power: Our instruments and GPS (UltraBip, BlueBip, BipBip PRO V2) feature high-performance solar charging technology. Even after a 9½-hour flight in changeable conditions, you won’t run the risk of the battery running out.
  2. Precision in light thermals: When flying over open countryside, spotting even the slightest thermal (+0.2 m/s) at low altitude can mean the difference between landing and taking off again. The sensitivity of our sensors enables you to fly within thermals effectively.
  3. Stodeus LogBook: Analyse your IGC flight logs, automatically record your performance and share your flights with your community of pilots.
